SHERRY D HILL

AUTHOR & NFL MOM

Sherry D. Hill is an author, artist, motivational speaker, hurricane survivor, former coordinator of the South Central Regional of the Professional Football Players Mothers Association a.k.a. NFLMOM, and the recipient of Newsome's Award Honor in 2016, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Most importantly, she is the proud mother of the late NFL player, Marquise Y. Hill. She graduated with a BS Degree in Art Education, and a minor in Sociology, from Alabama A & M University in 1979, during time which she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She also attended the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts and SUNO of New Orleans for elective studies. Overcoming all odds as a young single mother, she has ten years of education experience to her credit, in addition to sixteen years working for the Federal Government. One of her proudest achievements was the five years spent working as a juvenile counselor at the New Orleans Police Department, where she used the story of her son's life as an example to help mentor troubled youth. Ms. Hill has been a Toastmaster International member for ten years.

Ms. Hill has authored The Marquise Hill Story – From the Cradle to the Bowl, where she gives a heartbreaking account of losing her only son in the prime of his life, in a tragic jet ski accident on Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans. Her other book, The Linesman, exposes the pain she endured while offering nuggets of inspiration. She cannot speak enough about the the value of spending quality time with one's children to guide them on the right path and help them find their true selves.

While writing her first book, Ms. Hill was interviewed by the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, HBO's Inside NFL, the NFL Network, Channel 26, Channel 4, the Times-Picayune, Baton Rouge Advocate, Standard Times, Chicago Times, and TV One. She was also featured on the cover of Chicago's Vindicated Magazine.

Her son, Marquise Hill, was inducted in the Hall of Fame during a ceremony held in his honor at De LaSalle High School on March 29, 2008.
